Tourist Driver's License

In order to drive a rental car in Israel, tourists must have a valid foreign driver's license. Note that you do not need to get an international driver’s license. You can use your driving license for up to one year in Israel. If you decide to stay longer, you will have to apply for an Israeli driver’s license as well.

Traveling by car

Traveling by car is a great way to commute in Israel. It takes about seven hours to cross the State of Israel from North to South or from tip to tip. There are many car rental agencies in Israel. Israeli road numbers

Even numbered roads run north to south. Low numbers indicate roads which are closer to the south.
 
Odd numbered roads run from the east to the west of Israel.
Low numbers indicate roads which are closer to the west.

Toll Road Number 6

Israel one has one toll road, number 6 that runs from the North to Central Israel. If you decide to take this highway, you should sign an agreement with your car rental in Israel service beforehand or pay the required fees when you return the car.

Driving rules in Israel

Driving under the influence of alcohol is absolutely forbidden.
An accident caused by a DUI will not covered by the insurance company in Israel.
